SOFT SILICONE MOLDS FOR EASY DEMOLDING
In some projects, the success of a molding process does not depend solely on the precision of the mold, but also on its flexibility and its ability to allow stress-free demolding.
At Solvateq, we regularly develop custom silicone molds designed for manufacturing parts with sometimes complex geometries. In such cases, both the choice of silicone and the mold design play a decisive role.
The image below shows an example of silicone molds produced in our workshop for chocolate molding.
The final geometry of the part is confidential and unfortunately cannot be shown here.
VERY FLEXIBLE SILICONE MOLDS
The molds visible in this image were designed to achieve very high material flexibility.
This property allows:
• extremely easy demolding
• part extraction without deformation
• reduced risk of breakage
• accurate reproduction of the geometry
Unlike rigid molds, silicone can temporarily deform during demolding and then return to its original shape.
This elasticity is particularly useful when parts include areas that are difficult to extract.

WHY USE SILICONE FOR THIS TYPE OF MOLD?
Silicone is a material particularly well suited for the manufacturing of technical molds.
It offers several advantages:
✔ high elasticity
✔ excellent detail reproduction
✔ easy demolding
✔ good thermal resistance
✔ fast manufacturing
These characteristics make it possible to produce efficient molds even for relatively complex geometries.
APPLICATION EXAMPLE: CHOCOLATE MOLDING
In this example, these silicone molds were used to produce chocolate parts.
The objective of this type of test is often multiple:
• verify demolding performance
• observe mold behavior during production
• validate the overall cavity geometry
• test process repeatability
The high flexibility of silicone allows parts to be extracted without significant mechanical stress, which is essential for fragile materials such as chocolate.
A PROCESS ALSO USED IN INDUSTRY
Although this example concerns chocolate, the same approach is commonly used in industrial applications.
Silicone molds can be used for:
• functional prototypes
• technical pre-series
• process trials
• small-series production
They can then be used with different casting materials depending on the needs of the project.
THE SOLVATEQ APPROACH
At Solvateq, the design of silicone molds is part of a broader engineering and prototyping approach.
Each project generally begins with:
• analysis of the part geometry
• selection of the appropriate silicone
• mold design
• validation through casting tests
This approach allows a functional mold to be produced quickly and parameters to be adjusted if necessary before possible industrialization.
Highly flexible silicone molds are a particularly effective solution when easy demolding is essential.
Thanks to their flexibility and precision, they allow complex parts to be produced while minimizing mechanical stress during extraction.
This combination of flexibility, precision and fast manufacturing makes silicone an essential material for many molding processes.
